Balzan Youths FC 3 - Hibernians FC 2
Balzan Youths ended Hibernians this season unbeaten run by winning this game with a result of 3 - 2. For this game Balzan Youths had injured Serbian midfielder Nikola Tasic missing, while Brazilian Fagner Lins Bernardes replaced him with the first eleven. This was New Zealander Kris Bright's last game for Balzan Youths as an agreement has been reached with the club to give him the release so that he can join a Norwegian team in January 2012.
As from the very start Hibernians tried to take control of the game and after only eight minutes they were awarded a penalty, as Bledjon Guga handled the ball in the area. From the penalty spot, Clayton Failla saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri. On the 9th minute Balzan were unlucky as Bjorn Bondin's powerful shot hit the post and was deviated out. On the other side Matthew Camilleri made a couple of good saves over shots by Tristan Caruana and Steve Pisani. On the 29th minute Kris Bright failed to score from an open score position but in acute angle. On the 32nd minute, Camilleri performed two consecutive fine saves, the first one when he parried Luis Edison Dos Santos's shot and then, from the rebound, he denied Steve Pisani who shot from close range. A minute later Hibernians broke the deadlock. Balzan custodian Camilleri was finally beaten, as he only managed to palm Andrew Cohen's powerful shot into his own net. Balzan were not demoralised by this goal and pressed for an equaliser. On the 44th minute Balzan levelled matters. David Fenech and Dylan Grima exchanged passes with the latter finally serving Kris Bright who, from close range, managed to slot the ball past Hibernians custodian Mario Muscat.
In the second half Balzan went in front when, on the 51st minute, Dylan Grima served well Fagner Lins Bernardes who managed to dribble his way from midfield past Clayton Failla and finally beating Muscat. After taking the lead Balzan eased out and Hibernians reacted and took control of the game. Hibernians were unlucky when attempts by Triston Caruana and Andrew Cohen were denied by the posts, on the 61st and 63rd minute respectively. However on the 75th minute Hibernians were awarded another penalty as Bjorn Bondin was judged to have handled the ball in the area. This penalty was taken by Luis Edison Dos Santos who this time did not fail to transform, levelling matters for the second time. On the 87th minute Balzan Youths made the final score to read 3 - 2, when they were awarded a penalty as Peter Anizoba handled the ball in the area and from the spot Pedro Calcado calmly place the ball in the net, past Muscat.
